Guest Services Manager - Pacific Beach
Location: Pacific Beach Resort & Recreation Center
Pacific Beach Resort and Recreation Center is a mid-size lodging facility that includes a restaurant, bar, gift shop, RV and camp sites and conference facilities. The guest service manager provides on-site management for the front desk and gift shop. The manager is responsible for providing a high level of guest services and ensuring guest privacy and security measures are maintained at all times.
Brief Description of Duties:
Guest Relations, Gift Shop, and Front Desk Operations:
- Supervises and participates in front desk operations; reservations, cashiering, check-in and out, room assignments, and inventory control.
- Supervises and participates in gift shop operations; purchasing and selling of merchandise, pricing, displays, cost of goods control. Controls expenses and functions which include execution of retail merchandise presentations, selling and warehouse/stocking. Ensures proper terminal controls and procedures are used. May select, order/procure and determine retail pricing of merchandise utilizing regulatory guidelines. Maintain adequate inventory levels, eliminate slow selling items, and may add new items as presented.
- Acts as the resident expert of the Epitome and Rectrac POS.
- Ensures areas of responsibility operate in accordance with established instructions, manuals and operating procedures. Responsible for the accountability of all keys and any other inventory maintained at the front desk, gift shop and event space.
- May receive and be accountable for a change fund. Prepares and deposits cash receipts at the end of each shift as required
- Provides information as requested by higher authority
Manager Duties:
- Assignment of work and establishing performance standards for personnel within assigned area of responsibility.
- Plans and schedules personnel on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, approving leave and adjusting staff levels to meet workload requirements.
- Trains and instructs personnel in area of responsibility both in a formal training setting and on the job training.
- Participates in employee selection and interview process. Provides input to hiring and other employee transactions, adhering to fair employment practices and equal opportunity principles.
- Coaches, takes corrective action and counsels subordinates as necessary.
- Completes performance evaluations and recommends recognition and performance awards to the Resort Manager.
Qualification Requirements:
- Requires a minimum of three years related work experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to front desk, conference and catering sales & planning and/or retail operations.
- Professional knowledge of the lodging industry, administration, policies/procedures, and supervisory practices in conducting day-to-day operations.
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer and various software programs, including knowledge of the property management system.
- Must possess basic math and reading skills along with the ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with personnel of all grades and ranks.
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. This position must be able to work a variety of shifts to include nights, special events, weekends and holidays. Work is primarily performed indoors in an office environment or banquet setting. This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, walking, lifting /carrying up to 30 pounds unassisted.
